Jerrie Strickland (February 20, 1944 - March 12, 2009)
Jerrie Strickland Jeraldine “Jerrie” Mobley Strickland, 65, of Waycross died Thursday (March 12, 2009) at Satilla Regional Medical Center suddenly after an illness. She was born in Douglas, GA to the late Dave and Mattie Roundtree Mobley and lived in Waycross for most of her life. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J.M. Strickland, Jr. and one sister, Joe Ann Riles.
Mrs. Strickland was a Homemaker and a member of the First Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was very active.
She was a member of the Relief Society Organization and had served as a Teacher Development Teacher.
Mrs. Strickland was very active in the Return Missionaries Mom Group which is a worldwide email.
She was a volunteer with Angel Food Ministries and a local scrapbook store which was one or favorite hobbies and was also a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator.
Survivors include five children, Stacey Bible (Dennis), Pisgah, AL, Shannon Callahan (Tony), Blackshear, Joe Cranford, Waycross, Glenda Nettles (Mark), Waycross, Allison Strickland, Tallahassee, FL; two step-children, Angela Bryant (Jim), Woodbine, Craig Strickland, Waycross; three sisters, Jeanette Owens, Brandon, FL, Carolyn Clanton (Bill), Ochlocknee, GA, Eunice Polatis (Dean), Waycross; nine grandchildren, Brandon Hardee, Valdosta, Chris Callahan, Blackshear, Mat Cranford, Waycross, Breana Cranford-Bible, Pisgah, AL, Marissa Nettles, Waycross, Jericka Bible, Pisgah, AL, Abbye Bible, Pisgah, AL, Sarah Nettles, Waycross, Taylor Rae Cranford, Rocky Mount, NC, her first great-grandchild is expected in September; an uncle, Willie Joe Mobley, Waycross, an aunt, Pauline Lewis, Waycross; lifelong friends, Becky Williams, Waycross, Betty King, Waycross and JoAnn Jenkins, Roy, Utah; a multitude of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home. The Relief Sociey Ladies are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers and should meet at the Church at 1:30 Wednesday for the service.
